“Let it be. Be calm. It’s just not your time. That’s it, nothing else.” I murmured this many times in life.
At times we have to wait until the right time comes. In the meanwhile, it is time for preparation, it’s time to make strategies, and it’s time to sharpen your edges.
A hungry lion in a forest has to wait quietly for his target to be attacked. In the meanwhile he keeps his eyes focused, collects all his energy, stalk his prey, and when appropriate moment comes, he springs from the cover and attack.
In a boxing ring, boxers keep on jumping around when they are not punching. Do you ever think, Why? The reason is to wait for the right angle to punch. This is their strategic movements and preparation to generate more energy in their punches.
Similarly, we all have our aspirations and targets in life, but not every time, everybody gets everything within set timelines. Things get delayed, time and circumstances keep on changing. There are certain external elements which hinder our journey. There may be financial, family, health, environmental or many other factors, which are beyond control. But if the willingness is there, these things can be handled.
I was studying Urdu in an Academy. During those days, I met with a girl who used to write amazing “Shayari” in Urdu. Out of my natural interest in poetry, I started talking to her and we become good friends. One day she discussed her journey to join Academy.
She told me that she was very keen to learn the finer nuances of Urdu poetry and language under the guidance of well-known poet here in the academy. Due to few preconceived assumptions of her parent, they did not allow her to join. I asked her that why did not she try to convince them and even fought for herself. She answered, “Not everybody is a rebellion and dare to go against the flow.”
She told that she kept on reading good poets and learning by her own. Once she sent few of her poems to Ma’saab (with whom she wanted to be associated) by post and asked his feedback on that. A few days later she got a letter from Ma’saab mentioning:
“You have good knowledge of poetry, but need polishing. I am sending these back with few corrections. The meanings are very effective and with modification in few words, Academy wants to publish this in its newspaper if you give consent.”
This letter was received and read by my father. By realizing my love, dedication, passion, and the response from a well-known poet, he got convinced to send me here.
I asked her what kept her so motivated after her father’s denial. Her answer is still imprinted on my mind. She said
“My reliance on myself and time. Sometimes even unstoppable got stuck. Every smooth highway has speed breakers and toll plazas. Do you stuck there permanently and stop your journey? Does your passion reaching to your destination dim down? You have to slow down or stop sometimes and start again.
You know Sun is always there. It doesn’t rise and set. But it appears to rise and set because of the Earth’s rotation on its axis. We have to wait for Sun to rise again because we can’t control the earth rotation. Similarly, success, happiness and our zeal to achieve is always there, but sometimes it becomes vague due to certain external factors, which we can’t change. But have faith that Sun is there and it will never say “NO” to rise again. So have faith in our inner SUN of passion and don’t let it hidden forever due to mere situation rotations.”
I was dumbstruck to listen to her. I collected her wisdom pearls that day and it helped me many times in life when I was really stuck in some uncontrollable and unavoidable situation, which were slowing me down to move ahead with certain planned things when I used to remind myself:
“Let it be. Be calm. It’s just not your time. That’s it, nothing else.”
Sometimes we have to talk to mind and make him understand:-
“Don’t worry, this may not be your time. It does not mean that your time will never come. Keep sharpening your axe. Keep enhancing your knowledge. Don’t panic or lose heart if your success is getting delayed. Situations and time are rotating. Don’t let your sunshine fade away. Keep shining. Keep smiling.”
